And what bubbles up in times of trial is what you have hidden in your heart! It's a reserve, so to speak, you draw on when in need; like a savings account for rainy days.
The most comforting words ever written:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.” Psalms 23:1-3 KJV
How many times have those words come to mind? How many dark days and nights has the Holy Spirit brought them up?
Yesterday, during a cardiac scan I "fought the wild beasts" with the following:
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” Psalms 23:4-5 KJV
It was involuntary. I didn't try and remember. The words flooded my mind and Comfort held me while the dye coursed through my veins in intense heat. Fear was held at bay by power from on High and in exhaustion I collapsed, feeling great appreciation and love.
It was not the first time I had had this test. In the early '90s when I was not walking with The LORD, it was given to me and I did not do well, even under mild sedation. I remember the terror. I remember the anger. I remember the pain and helplessness. Yet yesterday they were not my company. Only peace, great thanksgiving and relief.
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3 KJV
Thank you all for your prayers. They were answered and then some! No blockages! They said, "my heart looked great for my age!" God did that!
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”
Psalms 23:6 KJV
He gets all of the glory!
