But Avoid Foolish

"But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will." (‭II Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭23-26‬ NKJV)

I hear people in dispute over The Truth, everywhere! However, I find very few that exhibit humility as they argue their beliefs!

Those who are in opposition to The Truth are captives of the devil and only God can bring them to repentance.

When God brings one to repentance, The Truth is made known to them and they come to their senses; their eyes are opened to see the lie they have been living! In repentance they are set free; free to turn away from the very thing that has held them captive!

Foolish and ignorant disputes generate strife! They cause division in the body, as is the intent of the one behind all conflict; divide and conquer! That is why there are so many denominations. And each segment believes they have The Truth!

So, what should we do?

Avoid them! (disputes): Ask God to open our eyes and bring us to repentance! It's a walk, to be done daily, because unrepented sin hardens the heart!

Ask for discernment of our leaders! In reading the above passage I feel blessed to perceive those qualities (humility, patience, gentleness) in those who teach me! God has truly given me wonderful examples of what a servant should be!

Pray! Pray God continues His Work in you! Pray God brings to repentance those who are in disputes! Pray for those who are in authority!

Seek The Truth! Lay aside everything that would pull you away from seeking Him with all of your heart! Ask God to have His way in your life! Give up your will for His will! Acknowledge Him as  your LORD and surrender control! (You don't have any anyway! It's an illusion, a snare of the devil!)

"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬ NKJV)
