“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
2 Timothy 2:15 KJV
"What do you do when you fall down? You get back up!" I wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard that question. And today I'm so thankful I have, for I've blown it again.
“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;”
2 Timothy 2:24-25 KJV
"Gentle unto all men"; ooooooo that's a hard one! (ykr) This is how you learn patience. You do it over and over until you get it right. And with God's help, I will keep getting back up until I do! He shows me in His Word what I need to do; how I need to respond; and gives a course correction of how to get back on that hard narrow road!
A friend recently reminded me that you can do right but your heart might not be right when you do, so then you are wrong.
This morning I must confess, I missed it. My heart was not right. I was not patient nor was I gentle; for that I am ashamed. But I am so thankful for God's mercy and grace in showing me my sin, and I humbly repent. I will ask forgiveness today and set things right, for in my error I sinned against man and God.
This is that narrow road. When the devil says, "oh that wasn't that bad; you don't have to do that; no one cares!" - I know that God cares and I know that I care about what He thinks.
If your conscience has been nagging you about something, then give heed. It may be hard at the moment but anything is worth the cost to get your peace
back.
Even so - MARANATHA!
