I was also reminded we are attracted to like spirits! Say, if you have a spirit of pornography, no matter how you try and avoid it, you are drawn to it! Same for alcohol, drugs and other addictions. Or, they can be the subtle yet lethal spirits like criticism or pride! That which we hate the most in others we have in our heart! Just because we hate something doesn't mean we don't love it!
When darkness resides in us we are drawn to darkness.
"The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble." (Proverbs 4:19 KJV)
“But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!”
Matthew 6:23 KJV
But you say, "I go to church; I try and do good! I am in the light!"
"But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes." (1 John 2:11 KJV)
When light resides, we are actually repulsed by darkness, and love lives in us, not hate.
“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” 1 John 1:5-10 KJV
The closer we get to God; the more Word we have in us; the less the things of this world matter to us!
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
1 John 2:15-16 KJV
Another way to know if you are in darkness; if the world still appeals to you is: Does the world still love you?
“If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” John 15:19 KJV
When light is in you darkness does not want to be around you! Darkness will condemn you; hate you; ridicule you; shun you! Darkness seeks its own!
Darkness will try and draw you back but it will not be your best friend. Darkness only does good, if there is something in it for him/her, even if it's just recognition. Darkness only loves the dark. Darkness wants to do good and to be loved, however it does it for the wrong reason.
The good news is, light drives out the darkness. Darkness will not, cannot stay, in the light! If you want more light, run to it! Pick up your Bible and read it, and then keep reading it! It will change you and the more you read, the more you will change! It's a good thing!
“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:” Isaiah 55:6 KJV
A day is coming when it will be too late! Seek Him NOW!
“From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17 KJV
“And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.” Revelation 3:1-3 KJV
Church it won't be long!
