“If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.”
Luke 14:26-27 KJV
“So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.”
Luke 14:33 KJV
Does this sound harsh?
If you are supposed to love everyone, then how are you suppose to hate or forsake everything?
What Jesus is saying here - you can have nothing above Him; NOTHING above God!
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Matthew 22:37 KJV
Have you fallen in love with God to the point, that if necessary, you could walk away from everything you hold dear, for the sake of the Kingdom; in total trust that He would take care of everything?
What is the most important thing in your life? Your children? Your spouse? Your home? Your job? What is the driving force in your life?
If God is "just one of the things you love", then He is not your God!
He wants to be your "all in all" and once He is, then you will gladly take up the cross and follow Him!
He not only wants all of you; He wants you to trust everything you hold dear - to Him!
When you worry or withhold, say your children, from God, the you are basically saying God is not big enough to take care of them! You are putting yourself above God! You are making yourself a god!
Worry is the sin of unbelief.
Repent! Be obedient! Trust Him!
The Creator of the universe is well able to take care of you; your family; your everything!
Fall in love with Him!!!!
Make Him your Principal Purpose!
Even so - MARANATHA!
