Only you can walk your walk!
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5 KJV
If you are not seeking God with your whole heart; if you are not reading your Bible and searching the Scriptures for yourself; if you are trusting your pastor and denomination to give you the truth without verifying it for yourself; if your prayer is not "open my eyes LORD, open my ears, change my heart; then you are most likely one of those described in the above verse!
Going to church, even every time the doors open; being involved in various activities does not mean you are not deceived!
It all comes down to obedience!
It all comes down to the fact that when you stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ and give an account of every idle word you have spoken you will do so alone! You won't be able to point a finger or lay blame to anyone - for you and you alone are responsible! Yes, your leader will also give account but mercy for all of us stops at death! You have been told The Truth but have chosen to believe a lie that is easier on your flesh! It's the broad road that doesn't require you to submit, obey or sacrifice your will or your pride!
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 KJV
The narrow way is hard! It's uncomfortable! It means unlearning old traditions of men and accepting The Word as the bottom line in your life! It's difficult to lay down your pride! To humble yourself in front of a brother or sister in The LORD and confess your sins and repent! But that is the only way for your burden to be lifted; your sins be forgiven and your pain to be healed!
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16 KJV
If your walk is all about what you get out of your faith, there is something wrong! You have it backwards! You see it's not supposed to be about you at all. It's supposed to be about Him and what you can do for Him! A servant's life is difficult! And that is exactly what we are called to be; a servant to the Most High God! It is a privilege and an honor to serve Him in all things and that means putting His desires above our own! Obedience is better than sacrifice means - He would be more pleased with our walk if we would just do what He said to do, rather than doing what we think He wants us to do!
“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
Matthew 7:22-23 KJV
Being a lover of pleasure can take many forms! Whether eating what you shouldn't or reading or watching material that excites - it doesn't matter! Sin is sin! Denying our desires for gratification goes against everything the world teaches! We deserve nothing! Humanism has infiltrated the very fiber of every denomination and dying to the flesh is considered radical! But die we must!
“And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.” Matthew 19:28-30 KJV
We have the cart before the horse! As sons and daughters of The King, many expect the rewards now, however, if you have not taken up your cross and followed Him, you have no part in the inheritance!
“But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.” Matthew 20:22 KJV
“For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.” Luke 22:27 KJV
Give up your seat! Remove your crown and take up your towel! Serve The One Who did the same for you!
Even so - MARANATHA!
