Last week, my "read through" the Bible was interrupted, and this morning I resumed my discipline. Picking up once again in Isaiah 1:1; I am confronted with an exasperated, disgusted, angry God, Who tells His children. "I've had enough of you!"
“Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.” Isaiah 1:14-15 KJV
Sunday, all around the world, christians "had" church! They went to a church building, sang songs, and prayed many prayers. Then left the buildings, so proud because they had done their duty to The Lord! No thought of repentance, no pretense of obedience; just putting in their weekly time, yet firmly convinced they are going to heaven!
“Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.” Isaiah 1:16-17 KJV
God is disgusted with the church, and I'm not talking about the big denominational ones, who are deceived; no I'm talking about the ones who are called by His Name, who do seek Him, who are trying to be obedient. I'm talking about me and you!
We are falling short! The stuff we have hidden in our heart; the sins that we refuse to let go of, that keep us from hearing His voice and truly making a difference in His world!
Time is so short, and there are people that are going to hell, and we pat ourselves in the back, and say "what a good service/sermon"! Wake-up people! Stop "playing church" and "BE" The Church! The "lost and dying world" are our family members, our neighbors, the one we sat next to in the service yesterday! Or maybe it's us!
Overcoming means doing something!
Repent!
Ask God to change your heart, so that it is no longer hard and uncaring! Ask Him to open your ears, so that you are able to hear His direction! Ask Him to open your eyes and show you where He wants you to be His hands and feet!
Your pride and self-indulgence; your romance with the world has got to come to an end, if you ever want to hear, "well done, good and faithful servant." You have to serve Him (not your self) to be called His "servant"!
He is calling us to repentance and obedience!
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.” Isaiah 1:18-20 KJV
“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:31 KJV
Church, He is not pleased!
Even so - MARANATHA!
