"As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. “For who is God, except the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God? God is my strength and power, And He makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places. He teaches my hands to make war, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. “You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your gentleness has made me great. You enlarged my path under me; So my feet did not slip. “I have pursued my enemies and destroyed them; Neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed." (II Samuel 22:31-38 NKJV)
Who are your enemies?
They are the powers of darkness!
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 NKJV
They are not your family and they are not your friends, however those are who they use to turn you from obeying God! Spirits of rejection, fear, anger, rebellion (just to name a few) whisper lies into our ears, to destroy our walk with God!
When we listen to their lies and come into agreement with them, instead of agreeing with God, we fall into sin. The more we agree, the further we fall!
How do we get out of the mess, we find ourself in? Obedience to The Word of God! Repentance!
Okay here's an example! You are going on vacation. You obtain directions and set out! (Please note: your GPS is not always right!) You find that the directions have put you on the wrong road, going in the opposite direction! The road is rough and dead ends! You check your directions and realize they were wrong; you read it wrong; or maybe your copilot read it wrong. You can choose to forgive and have a good trip or you can berate him/her and ruin your plans! You hear in your head all of the reasons they don't deserve forgiveness. Maybe you (or they) are a bad map reader, however there are more important issues at stake here! In fact, we are more apt to hear the accusations in our head, when we are the one who failed!
It's your choice! Choosing to agree with those voices is a much bigger mistake; the biggest wrong turn! Your choice? Hold a grudge and ruin your trip or forgive and have peace in the car! Not forgiving keeps you on the wrong road! You must turn around and go back out to where you made the wrong turn.
Everyday we are given opportunities to obey God or not! We most often do not obey because of our ignorance! We allow unforgiveness, judgments, anger, worry and fear to dominate us, instead of obeying The Word of God, because those sins have been acceptable in church for a long time!
The devil whispered his lies into Jesus' ears when he was tempting Him, and Jesus rebuked him with The Word!
When we are faced with the same temptations we either choose to agree with God or satan!
We are admonished to take every thought captive:
“casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” II Corinthians 10:5 NKJV
The battle is in our minds! That is where we wage war! When we agree with the devil we invite the darkness to stay!
“because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”
Romans 1:21 NKJV
You must know; not every thought in your head is yours! There are three voices you hear!
The loudest most incessant voice is the enemy! He never shuts up and you can tell by his tone, he is up to no good! He is the one who accuses you and everyone else, of anything and everything! (Rev 12:10)
Another voice that is much harder to hear is the voice of The Holy Spirit! His is the still small voice and is comforting! It's so hard to hear Him today because of the noise, which is nonstop! Music, tv, traffic; it's so hard to find a quiet place! (1 Kings 19:12)
The third voice is yours when you choose to agree with one or the other! (Matt 18:19)
It is impossible to win the war when you agree with the enemy!
You want to stand?
Agree with God! Obey Him!
Read your Bible and get it in your heart so that like Jesus you speak The Word and win the battle! (Matt 4:2-11)
“Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.”
Revelation 2:16 NKJV
“He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.”
Revelation 1:16 NKJV
Watch your words and with whom you agree! Don't give your power away! Repent and choose to agree with God and obey His Commandments!
Even so - MARANATHA!
