Psalm 37 has always been one of my favorites; especially vs 4! We all want the desire of our heart! Right? But, you know you are growing up in The LORD, when HE becomes the desire of your heart; when your list only has His name on it!
There are other verses in this Psalm, such as: “Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.” Psalms 37:3, 5, 7-8 KJV
We don't want to read or do those, do we! But to have verse 4, we must do 3, 5, 7 & 8!
This Psalm is a comparison of the ways of the wicked and the righteous man.
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” Psalms 37:23 KJV
“The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.” Psalms 37:18 KJV
“The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.” Psalms 37:12 KJV
“The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.” Psalms 37:14 KJV
God uses people for His purposes, and so does the enemy! It is our choice whom we will serve! If we are not closely guarding our hearts; if our focus is not on The LORD, then we may be being used by the enemy to bring down a brother or a sister!
We see people all day long that we know the enemy is using to bring turmoil and chaos, however if we don't watch our words we can unwittingly sow discord too! When we wake up to the enemy's manipulation, then we must repent and make restitution!
Just like there is nothing as sweet as being used by God, there is nothing as unsavory as realizing we are being used to hurt a brother or sister! Pray you are made aware and you desire a pure heart to set things right!
“Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.” Song of Solomon 2:15 KJV
While in the world, we have heard and even commented ourselves, on how so called Christians have said things that hurt and didn't apologize! The world is quick to point fingers, and knows when we err, and never extends mercy! We don't want to be the one they are pointing their finger at! And remember above all, baby Christians are watching and we want to make sure we aren't unwittingly used by the enemy to bring one of them down, with a thoughtless word or deed!
“Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore. For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever. The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.”
Psalms 37:27-31 KJV
It is your choice whether you be used by God or the devil!
If you keep your focus on Him, He will give you the desires of your heart! Please choose good over evil! Desire Him!
Not making a choice for good is by default a choice for evil!
If you have blown it, repent!
He has got to be your Primary Purpose! Seek Him with your whole heart! You are walking on a slippery slope! Don't be deceived! Backsliding is just a step a way!
