“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 KJV
“He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;” Matthew 13:37 KJV
“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.” Luke 8:11 KJV
Trees, fruit and seeds. Having lived in an orchard for 20+ years I'm a bit familiar with such! So when I read the above scriptures, I feel right at home! I've seen good fruit and I've seen and smelled bad fruit! I've seen the pruning piled up and I've also seen trees uprooted; bulldozed out when the cease to produce or if they were diseased! And I know that all trees begin from a seed unless they are otherwise grafted onto another tree!
Trees that are purchased and planted are done so with the anticipation of fruit production. Knowing what the fruit is supposed to taste like, the farmer cares for new plant, nurturing it till it is mature enough to produce! However, if the fruit is no good, he will, without hesitation remove the tree and plant another in its place! The tree only has value as long as it produces! If it becomes infested with bores, it is removed quickly before they spread!
It is so easy to see why God used such parables to explain Kingdom principles! As The Master Gardener, He tests the fruit and cares for the trees and decides what trees are producing fruit and if the fruit is good! He's the Ultimate Fruit Inspector, and if we abide in Him we should be able to discern fruit too!
The quality of our fruit has a direct correlation with the seed planted! Good seed (God's Word) good fruit! For The Word inspects our fruit tree! It prunes - getting off dead wood for new growth so as to produce more fruit! The Word nourishes and gives life! It waters and brings growth to new seeds!
However there is bad seed that is planted by the enemy and it brings death! Those seeds produce bad fruit and are completely the opposite of good fruit! An infestation corrupting a good tree, may be rescued with severe pruning by The Word, but unless the tree responds to the ministrations of The Gardner, it may just end up in the burn pile!
“Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:” Matthew 3:8 KJV
Read your Bible! Let It have It's way in you! If you spend time with The Word you take on His attributes and your fruit is sweet! And conversely, the time you spend in the world and it's distractions, the more you look and taste like it; corrupted, bitter, sour, rotten.
Repent while there is still time!
Even so - MARANATHA!
