“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
Psalms 91:1-2 KJV
Perfect!!! How many times the past two weeks has this Psalm come to mind? More than I can remember!
“Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.” Psalms 91:3-6 KJV
On our way over; suspended over the middle of the Pacific Ocean; in the dark of night, while everyone else was sound asleep; experiencing horrible turbulence, I was not afraid! I used the time to pray for the crew, passengers and my loved ones back home! Such peace I had from the LORD!
“A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.” Psalms 91:7-10 KJV
Yesterday, again experiencing great turbulence coming back, I was listening to a sermon by David Wilkerson quoting Jonathan Edwards: “Stamp eternity on my eyeballs”, I was again acutely aware of how precarious our lives hang in the balance. Moment by moment we give little to no consideration of how fragile we are; in an instant our life can end; for we are not guaranteed tomorrow!
“BC” before Christ, such rumination would have brought on great anxiety attacks! Not anymore, praise God, for I know ONLY is there safety in Him! And, as I said at the beginning of my trip, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him” Job 13:15a KJV
“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.” Psalms 91:11-13 KJV
Only in Him do we have confidence and peace!
“Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” Psalms 91:14-16 KJV
I have spent the last two weeks, with literally no control over my life! Everywhere I went, by car, shuttle or plane, someone else had the wheel! But I rested in “Who” controls everything!
“I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Psalms 91:2 KJV
“Control” is an illusion! Giving up what we think we have, is imperative for a successful Christian walk! Submission is a requirement!
I will trust Him for my life and the lives of those I love! For He alone holds us all - in His more than capable hands!
He is God and we are not!
I give Him all the glory for a wonderful trip, and bringing us home safely! Thank you all for your prayers! God answered them abundantly!
Even so - MARANATHA!
