“I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.” Job 42:5-6 KJV
I believe that abhorring oneself has to happen to all of us. And when it does nothing is ever the same!
Yesterday, I began the day touring one of man’s greatest creations! Then spent the remainder of the day in the city, shopping; where everyone worships what man creates; I bought nothing!
“Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” Romans 1:25 KJV
The pictures I shoot of the city are beautiful, but nothing compares to the beauty God creates! But then man goes even farther astray by worshiping the creation; man and beast!
We give glory to man for his accomplishments; we worship ourselves (so self-absorbed); we raise animals above people, both wild and domestic!
Job came to the end of himself and we must too! It’s a hard thing yet the best thing that can happen to any of us! Becoming totally reliant on our Creator is required! Giving Him all the glory imperative!
This is where man is: “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”
Romans 1:21 KJV
“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,” Romans 1:22 KJV
Man is foolish here, there and everywhere! We can never do enough or learn enough; to be enough; no matter how hard we try!
We need a Savior!
And it takes coming to the end of ourselves to find that out! God will let us; it’s for our good! We can’t see it before, but on the other side, we would have it no other way! He is worth all of the pain!
And He thinks the same of us -
He endured the cross!
Man - worth all of the pain!
What a concept!
“Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.” Psalms 2:10-12 KJV
“So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning” Job 42:12a KJV
And He has me too!
He gets all of the glory!
Even so - MARANATHA!
