“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 KJV
We make choices everyday and many seem inconsequential, however even the smallest choice can be monumental in the grand scheme of life.
choice
noun
- 1.an act of selecting or making a decision when faced with two or more possibilities."the choice between good and evil"
synonyms: option, alternative, possible course of action "you have no other choice"
We think we would always choose good over evil, however when our choices are contrary to The Word Of God, even unknowingly, evil wins. Agreeing with The Word is a decision for good. Choosing our own way is an evil act of disobedience or rebellion.
de·ci·sion
dəˈsiZHən/
noun
- a conclusion or resolution reached after consideration."I'll make the decision on my own"
synonyms: resolution, conclusion, settlement, commitment, resolve, determination; - the action or process of deciding something or of resolving a question."the information was used as the basis for decision"
- a formal judgment."last year's Supreme Court decision"
We make decisions everyday. We choose all of the time which direction we will go and most often they are split second decisions; made without deliberation.
What about the consequences?
And can they be of importance if our heart is not right when we make our choice?
Game changer?
“For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.” Psalms 78:37 KJV
We should examine our hearts at every opportunity. Letting sin stay and not dealing with it is a choice resulting in a hard heart.
“Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:”
Psalms 95:8 KJV
Father, I come to you this morning asking You to show me my sin; hiding in my heart. My desire is to be clean before and to walk in obedience to Your Word. If there be any hardness please LORD circumcise my heart! Remove anything there LORD that is not of You!
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
Psalms 51:10 KJV
I choose this day for me and my house to serve and obey You!
Even so - MARANATHA
