Are you "The Elect"? Is that how you are walking? In kindness? In humility? In meekness? In longsuffering? Have you "put on tender mercies"?
If you have not or do not;
are you?
The religious person right now is listening (in his/her head) to the enemy - pointing to others "who do not display" these qualities.
The actual "elect", would be examining their own heart and saying, "oooooo I need to work on this!"
The religious person would be saying, "well that's impossible!"
The actual elect, would be praying, "Lord, change me into Your image, I lay down my will for Yours!"
The religious person would be angry, saying, "well who does she think she is?"
Whereas the elect, would be desirous of all qualities that are Jesus, in his or her life!
So if you are not "the elect", how do you get there?
By dying to self!
By obedience to The Word!
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:” Colossians 3:1-5 KJV
You seek!
You set your affections on!
You mortify (subdue) your fleshly desires with the desires from above!
How?
Repent and Separate!
You cannot walk in the spirit and in the world! You stop riding the fence! You become single minded in your efforts! (a double-minded man, is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8)
At first there is a war, but with a bit of discipline you will find it easier to desire the things of God; then it becomes second nature!
If you were starting a new diet or exercise regimen you would have to make yourself focus at first, until it became habit! The same in dying to the flesh! It's submission to God's Word! Through purposing in your heart and giving up your will, through prayer and supplication; it is doable!
The more of you, you give up, the more space is available for Him!
"Christ in you, the hope of glory!"(Col 1:27b)
"That" only occurs through obedience!
If The Word says forgive (Matt 6:14-15), then you forgive!
If The Word says confess to one another (James 5:16), then you find a brother and confess!
If The Word says judge not (Matt 7:1-2) then you repent of the judgments you have made!
You just do it! It's so simple!
As my pastor Chet Murrell says, "Simple is the hardest thing you'll ever do!"
“And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”
Colossians 3:14-17 KJV
What(so)ever you do!
Even so - MARANATHA!
