“I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. I'm sure when Paul penned the above scripture he had no idea how his words would be twisted.
You see, no matter what we do for The Kingdom we cannot allow our flesh to get puffed up, and THAT is exactly what it wants to do!
She had taken offense because she had been taught by her denomination, "who" she "is in Christ!" They never told her "Who" Christ IS!
After I explained, she then said I needed to share what I meant by that term! So here goes.
Twice God used a donkey! He spoke through one and rode on another.
“And the Lord opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?”
Numbers 22:28 KJV
“Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.” Matthew 21:5 KJV
The more God cleans me up, the more I'm aware that He is all that is good in me! I bring nothing to the table, but my willingness to obey! I have nothing to boast in, but I can boast in Him!
“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”
Galatians 6:14 KJV
We are to die daily. A friend put it very succinctly today! The worldly church has it upside down! If you would be first you must be last!
“But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.” Mark 10:31 KJV
“But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?” Mark 10:38 KJV
It's not about us, IT'S ALL ABOUT HIM! Yes, our Father is The King, but we are to be a servant just like His SON Who gave His life for us! If we are a follower of Him we must give up our lives too, and carry our cross!
Be careful of the ministry you join, in your walk! If the leader envisions himself/herself as a thoroughbred and feels entitled to the nicest stall in the barn, then the message of repentance and picking up your cross and dying daily is missing! Servants don't have suites, they clean them!
“But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.” Matthew 23:11-12 KJV
So no matter how God uses any of us, we are still "just a donkey!"
My heart's desire: "just to be a donkey."
