The 6th chapter of Matthew has to be one of the meatiest chapters in the Bible! It's foundational and when reading it, most would consider its simplicity to be milk! The importance of its content however, belies that notion!
When we begin building a structure the foundation is of supreme importance! It's soundness dictates whether the building stands or falls when the storms come!
So is your foundation sound?
Do you "seek first" in all your ways; you who are new in The Lord?
Do you, who claim to have known Him all your life, seek Him in everything?
Or are you still walking in your own strength? Trying to figure out in your own flesh, how to do; how to gain; how to make - something? Weighing your options; mulling it over in your mind; staying torn up over your indecision?
Is that why you are floundering?
“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” Matthew 6:31-32 KJV
When you have your focus on The Lord; when you seek Him in everything; you have no worry; you have no fear! You have no confusion over a decision, because you are not placing your trust or faith in yourself, or external forces! You are choosing to ignore what the enemy is telling you, and believe that The Creator of The Universe, The King of all kings and The LORD of all lords will do what He says He will do!
THAT is seeking first!
THAT is looking to the Author and Finisher of your faith!
When you "seek first" and doubt tries to raise his ugly head, you choose to stand firm in your belief that He is your provider and because His Word says He will - you will trust, no matter what your circumstances look like!
You choice is vital!
Who do you choose to believe?
God or the devil?
What you see or what His Word says!
If you are worrying, if you have fear, then your choice is apparent! However, you can change your mind! You do not have to stay in the enemies' camp!
“Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.”
Matthew 6:8 KJV
“After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:9-13 KJV
If you have prayed and your prayers are not being answered, examine your heart. Sin like unforgiveness can block your prayers.
Jesus still speaking: “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matthew 6:14-15 KJV
When in obedience you have confessed your sin and forgiven all who have hurt you and repented of those you have hurt, you have made Jesus Lord and chosen to obey His Commandments. Refusing to forgive and repent is rebellion.
Now - repent for not trusting God and read Matthew 6:33. Then while you are at it, read it again; and then read it again! When Jesus Christ is your LORD and you are walking in obedience you can stand on His Word!
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Matthew 6:33-34 KJV
Those who stay in The Word of God; those who are obedient to His Commandments will stand in the fiercest battles, because they do not stand alone!
Even so - MARANATHA!
From 6/17/14
My foundation stands!
It is secure - anchored in The Rock!
I dug deep!
