“Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the Lord thy God.” Deuteronomy 12:28 KJV
This is the blessing of The LORD! “that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever”
Who doesn’t want life to go well, especially for our children? And look! The promise is forever!!!
Observing means doing! Obedience is imperative for “it to go well for us!”
Reading into the next chapter: “If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.” Deuteronomy 13:1-4 KJV
Do you see the word “proveth?” This means The LORD will test you to see if you will be faithful to Him!
Even today people go after other gods rather than following after The One True God. They listen to the lies of the enemy just like Adam and Eve did in the garden. A promise of gain without pain! The lie that there are many roads to heaven!
However, most of the time it’s a diluted gospel that gets them off track! The enemy whispers “It’s just a little “_______”, what will it hurt! “So ‘n so does it! And they are a good Christian!”
It’s just a movie. It’s just a song! It’s just a little drink! It’s just one cigarette! It’s just one joint! You can miss one Sunday to go to the game!
“It’s just a” that gets more people in trouble because that “one” grows into “many” and the next thing you know you are hooked or back slidden or in debt or you’ve lost your job and your family!
That’s the whole point! The devil wants to destroy you and your family!
It comes down to faithfulness!
God said to observe His Word! God said to stay on the narrow road! God said to deny yourself!
The devil says it won’t hurt! Just one! You can quit anytime! The devil is a liar and he knows what our flesh wants and that we are weak!
God is testing your faithfulness!
“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”
Deuteronomy 6:5 KJV
Will you love Him enough to NOT do what everyone else is doing?
Will you walk contrary to the mainstream? Will you look different, talk different, act different?
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15 KJV
Will you love Him that much; that you stick out from the crowd?
It’s really not that hard, like the devil tries to make it out to be, to walk in His Commandments!
When you love The LORD you also love what He loves and you hate what He hates! The things the world finds acceptable you will find repulsive! Take a movie for example! It might have great ratings and big a big box office hit! The story may be good and it have great actors but the unnecessary sex, violence and profanity wounds your spirit; if The Holy Spirit dwells in you! Same with music! The orchestration may be wonderful but the lyrics be off color! It hurts!
There was a meme I saw recently that said “if you wouldn’t want your children to see it, why would you want to expose The Holy Spirit to it?”
We have no clue just how important what we do, watch, or hear is!
We are to be set apart!
The world is not our home; we are sojourners!
We are to walk like Jesus and we are tested everyday! Will we or won’t we?
Jesus said, “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:14 KJV
Just because everyone in your Sunday School class does it, doesn’t make it okay! The old “WWJD?” still applies!
When I first got saved, I would be getting ready to go out and I would look in the mirror and ask myself it what I was wearing was appropriate! The Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, “If you have to ask, then it’s not!” I’d change!
He’s there to lead. Just ask and He will tell you!
The enemy is there also to tell you it’s okay! I have found if he says that, then it’s not okay, for he is a liar! The opposite of a lie is truth!
If the devil whispers in your ear, that no one loves you, then you can take it to the bank that someone does love you! For sure God does!
Show Him how much you love Him by making Him the Principle Purpose of your life; pleasing Him your primary goal!
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Matthew 22:37 KJV
I promise you will not miss out on anything by obeying God!
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 KJV
In fact you will miss out on EVERYTHING if you don’t!
