“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:31 KJV
My fingers on my phone keypad seem to invariably hit the wrong letter when I try to type the word "love" and the result is "live"!
When I read the above Scripture, and saw "living God" I was reminded of how most Christians speak of the "loving God" and even atheists accuse with, "How can a loving God . . . ?" And yes we know He loves us, but do we really consider Him a "living God?”
"Loving" is sort of abstract, whereas "living" brings Him to the present!
Then the following Scripture:
“He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:” Hebrews 10:28 KJV -
seems to reinforce the mindset that The Law is something we want to avoid today! I mean why would we want to look to The Law with the sentence of death hovering over it? I mean, He is a "God of Love" and we have a "new" and "better" Covenant - right?
Then I read:
“Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?” Hebrews 10:29 KJV
And: “For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.” Hebrews 10:26-27 KJV
The Gospel that is being preached today; the feel-good message, with no repentance; that does not point you back to The Law, so that you are convicted of your sin, will afford you no blood covering at the Judgement Seat if Christ!
Do you have a "fearful expectation of judgement"?
Don’t you think you should?
Repent, before it is too late!
“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25 KJV
I love the word "uttermost" and that "He ever liveth"!!!
Even so - MARANATHA!
