“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17 KJV
Truth is truth - God's Word is Truth! There is no other truth! There is not "my truth", "your truth", "some truth", "what I know to be truth"; there is just Truth! A partial truth is a lie! It's either all of the truth or it's not Truth!
Since the beginning, in the garden, the devil has twisted the Truth; God's Word, and he is still doing it today! You can hear many messages in churches, on TV and radio; all proclaiming "the truth"! You see pretty little signs on Facebook that "sound" good by the world's measure - but we are not of this world!
The only way to "know" the real truth is by knowing your Bible! You measure everything; filter it through the Word of God! That is the test! To test it though, you have to know it! The only way to know the Word is to spend time reading it! Lotsa time!
When you read your Bible you are not just learning the Word of God, you are being changed! You are being separated from the darkness and brought into the light!
“And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.” John 17:19 KJV
If you believe yourself to be a Christian, yet you don't like spending time reading your Bible, there is unrepented sin in your life that is stopping you! Darkness does not like to be exposed and runs from the light! It's your choice to stay in darkness or come out, into the light!
I remember, when I first started reading my Bible, seeing myself by It's light; it hurt! But my desire for God was great! I knew I no longer wanted to stay where I was; walking in fear, depression, loneliness! I surrendered, when I was convicted of my sin! That's what the Word of God does!
Jesus, before He was arrested and crucified, prayed to The Father for us; making a way for us to be "one" with Him!
“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” John 17:20-21 KJV
Important: Jesus did not die on the cross for you and me; for us to ignore His Word, and think because we say some words at the altar we will go to heaven! Without repentance there is no salvation!
His sacrifice warrants us investing everything we are, into our relationship with Him!
AGAIN: If Jesus is not the principal purpose of your life - you are not saved!
He is not something you "do" - occasionally!
“Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.” John 17:24-25 KJV
Pray that God will open your eyes and ears, and change your heart! Do not be deceived! Time is so short!
Repent!
